Where does the Bible say man has a free will? It doesn't.

Where does the doctrine of Free Will come from? You will not find one single verse in the Bible that states man has a Free Will. If Free Will is not taught in the Bible where did this doctrine come from? Is it based on man's opinion rather than the opinion of God?

Does not the Bible teach that the will of man is "controlled" by a sinful nature? Does not the Bible say we are "servants" to sin? Simply meaning (without Christ) we are slaves to an inherited sinful nature. There's nothing free about the fact we are controlled by a propensity to sin. The human will is controlled by sin. Period. A sinful man cannot not just simply choose to do right and God therefore will consider him right. A sinful man will choose wrongdoing in the simple rejection of Christ. Rejection alone causes man to miss God. If man missed God and missed redemption of the human soul are not his will, choices, and decisions based on self righteousness?

If you look at man and compare him to what the Bible says he really is, you will find that man cannot make "righteous choices" and be right in the eyes of God...without having righteousness by Grace in his heart. Read Romans 3:10-20 which is the greatest indictment against fallen man in the Bible. None that doeth good. None righteous, no not one! David stated that a human being was conceived in sin. David also said that a baby goes astray from the womb...speaking lies. A child doesn't necessarily tell lies because he or she heard lies from it's parents; a child tells lies because in their nature and make-up they are compelled to lie. Moses said in Genesis that the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth. Children without Christ that grow up making choices...make choices without Christ. Children that find Christ in their hearts will make Christ like choices.

The Bible teaches the ways of man are right in his own eyes...but the ways of man are not necessarily right in the eyes of God. What gives an unsaved man the right to think his decisions or choices are godly. This is where people miss it. People think they can choose right; decide right: do acts of right (in their own eyes) or good deeds and God will bless them for it. The problem with this is that people leave out Christ and His Saving Grace. They miss God-given righteousness. They miss Salvation of the human soul. They are servants of unrighteousness. Rom 6:13...Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness

Human choices (within an unsaved man) are not and cannot be Godly choices that look for favor from God. Man cannot choose to do right and claim its right without God given righteousness that comes from the new birth. What I'm saying is, "The will of man is tainted and polluted with sin and is not free to choose and decide righteousness". Therefore the choices and decisions of man are likewise tainted and polluted with sin. The mind is darkened by the unclean heart. This is based on Bible doctrine not the opinions of men or tradition.

The Bible teaches there is no freedom to choose right unless its choosing Christ as Savior and Redeemer. Does not the Holy Spirit melt fallen man just enough to break the will of man from a self righteous position? Get out of the way (you self centered man) as you may be your own worst enemy! Human choices will get you into self sufficiency and cause you to miss the sufficiency of God. Godly choices will get you to the power of God's saving Grace. Do you believe God can break the human will? Yes. The human will has to be broken to get fallen man to Christ. The will has to be "broken" by God to recieve right. Your choices and decisions without Christ, what did they get you from God? Nothing.

Before Christ...Did you find favor with God because you chose to quit committing adultery? Did you find favor with God because you chose to quit drinking alcohol, or lying, stealing, or cheating? Perhaps you could turn your will from wrong to right on your own accord? Perhaps it was 50-50. Not so my brethren. Granted, Adam had the power to chose right or wrong (at creation)...but since the days of Adam man has been born with a fallen nature. Cursed from the fall of Adam. Born a sinner. Without hope. Helpless without Christ. The mind, will, and body...controlled by sin...not free to chose or do right. The human will is not by any means free, but controlled or "under" sin. God's Word will confirm this truth in Romans 3:10...all are under sin. Under the control of sin...

Aren't you glad Christ can break the will of man enough to cause him to turn from sin and disobedience...or repent. I am! Glory! Christ changes things! He leads men to repentance. He changes the heart and soul which govern the way a man chooses and decides. His power and presence causes us to make right choices not wrong choices. The will of a Christian is in harmony with the will of God! God's Grace sways the way a man chooses and decides. Godly choices. Godly decisions. Why? Sin doesn't live here anymore. I'm free after Christ frees me. I've been redeemed! Glory!

The ministry and sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit

From the beginning of this writers Salvation, the subject of "Sanctification" had always attracted my attention. I knew from the beginning of a personal relationship with Christ that God had placed a call on my life. After the new birth experience was found I always realized, "I wanted to do right in the eyes of God". For years I tossed with various doctrinal views about sanctification from books and commentators...but was never completely settled on which particular view was the right way.

Hubert Lindsey's impact on my life swayed my personal position on the holy heart and holy living in Christ. Why? Hubert preached against sin and disobedience to God. He preached right and holy living exactly like the Bible teaches! Nobody was teaching this stuff! I could clearly see the same thing in the Word of God! The holy heart and life given from God compelled this writer to study the Bible more closely. Hubert's preaching basically prompted me to STUDY MORE! Personal study was helping me to sort out commentators views and opinions that had stumped me on sanctification in the past. Personal Bible study (prompted by Brother Lindsey) revealed to this writer's heart the actual truth of God's Word concerning the holy heart. The Holy Spirit thus"confirmed the truth of the Scriptures" through this writer's sanctified life in Christ. That's the reason why I write this Blog! That's the reason why I preach the Gospel today! That's the reason the Spirit "urged" me to build the Church that we named the "Upper Room".

Christ ministers to both saved and unsaved souls through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Through infinite love and mercy the Father draws men to salvation of the soul through conviction, repentance, and faith in the death of a Savior for personal forgiveness from sin. All these come from hearing, learning, and accepting the Gospel message that Christ commanded us to preach. Since the original sin in the Garden of Eden man has remained unholy from birth and polluted with an Adamic nature.  The Bible teaches the will and desire of every human being born is to do wrong in the sight of God. The ministry and sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit is God’s method of restoring humanity back to a God-given state of righteousness.

The first work of the Holy Spirit through conviction affects the will, conscience, and desire of man by revealing the sinful and unholy heart. Man’s need for a Savior’s love is made known to the penitent as the Holy Spirit testifies the person of Christ to the human soul. Through conviction from the Holy Spirit and guilt from the human conscience, condemnation from sin is revealed and placed heavy upon mans inner being. The Holy Spirit places a desire in that heart of man to quit wrong doing.  Conviction is the ministry of the Holy Spirit that affects the human soul and leads a sinful man to repentance.

Repentance is the process of an unbeliever changing his mind after the ministry of the Holy Spirit’s conviction sways the human will to change or brokenness. God’s goodness leads men to repentance as the Holy Spirit reveals man’s need for a Savior’s mercy and forgiveness. When man recognizes Christ and sees himself as he really is, the presence of the Holy Spirit makes man sorrowful for a wrongful past and his unholiness of heart. This man will no longer want to continue in sin and unrighteousness. Man thus turns away from sin and cries out to God for help.  The process of repentance through the work of the Holy Spirit is a sinful mans action of turning away from sin and disobedience to a life of obedience and trust in Christ for the forgiveness of sins. Repentance is simply a change of mind.

Trusting in the death of Christ for personal forgiveness of sins allows God to give man a new heart which begins the new life in Christ. This new creation in Christ comes through the Spirit’s work of regeneration in the human soul.  Regeneration is a re-created mind, will, and conscience produced by God’s Grace in the new birth. The inner make-up of man is morally restored with a divine nature like Adam had before the fall.  Through the Holy Spirit’s power of regeneration a sinful man is converted into a child of God and thus receives a God-given divine nature. In this new birth man’s sins are not only forgiven but also a new desire from the Holy Spirit is given to the believer in Christ… to forsake sin.

The Holy Spirit testifies Christ and confirms the truth of God’s Word.  This revelation does not come from flesh and blood it comes straight from the Throne of God. After regeneration the work of the Holy Spirit continues making Christ known to the heart of a believer through divine revelation. This witness from the Spirit not only reveals Christ but also strengthens the believer inwardly. Regeneration from the Holy Spirit leads the believer in Christ to sanctification. Sanctification allows the Spirit of God to cut the believer away from the old man and the old life of self consisting of bad habits, selfish desires, selfish affections, etc. that still exists. An inner conflict which began through the power of the new birth arises between mans inherited carnal nature and the newly given divine nature. The power of the Holy Spirit’s witness exposes the conflict caused from the Old Man that still tries to rule. This exposure in light of the death of Christ on the cross reveals the crucifixion of self.  Crucifixion of self is brought more to a believer’s attention by the Spirit of God. Crucifixion of self is an actual death to the Old Man. This crucifixion of self is experienced in the life of a believer by the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. The Bible states, “The body of sin might be destroyed”. Romans 6:6

Sanctification through the Spirit reaches to the deepest need found in the heart of a believer. This need is the crucifixion of self that gets in the way of God. The ministry of the Holy Spirit leads the believer in Christ to the Holy Spirit’s sanctifying power that’s found in the baptism with the Holy Ghost and fire. Sanctification through the Spirit is a work that enables the Spirit of God to sever a believer away from a selfish life of I, me, and mine that exists… to the complete crucifixion (death) of the Old Man. After Sanctification through the Spirit cuts man away from all the conflicts in life God also can preserve and fortify this faithful man in Christ.  This operation in the life of a believer is the “fullness” of the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit and comes after regeneration and after the crucifixion of self where the body of sin, the Adamic nature is destroyed. Yes, a believer can be completely rid of the Old Man. God said so!

        
Indwelling sin is destroyed as the indwelling Holy Spirit takes full possession of mans total being.  This final work of the Holy Spirit is called, “Entire Sanctification”. It’s proven in New Testament records through the sanctifying power of the Baptism with the Holy Ghost and fire and follows the regenerating work of the new birth.  Two complete experiences through the ministry and sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit.  Both experiences take place at separate times. Regeneration is the experience of a sinner and takes place when forgiveness of sins is received. Sanctification is the experience of the believer and takes place when the Old Man is crucified.

Unlike the new convert at regeneration where the conflicting Adamic nature still tries to rule, the entirely sanctified believer is completely delivered from the carnal nature and relieved from the bondage caused from all struggles in life… both inner* and outer*. This completed work of Sanctification allows the Holy Spirit to have full sway of the believer’s entire being and character. After the inward work of the baptism with the Holy Ghost and fire is experienced, a believer’s life is renewed in the Spirit.  Holiness of heart and full trust in Christ for everything in life without an inner or outer struggle is proof of this renewal.

*Inner Struggle…conflict between the new nature and the Adamic life…after the new birth

*Outer Struggle…conflict with the problems of life that man can’t control

Unfortunately for many, the fullness of the work of the Holy Spirit is missed and never experienced until late stages of the Christian life or even after death to the physical body.  When the blessing of Entire sanctification is however; experienced and walked out for a long period of time on this side of heaven it offers: an unimaginable life that provides victory over sin; gives a sense of contentment the world can never offer; and provides a full assurance to an eternal inheritance that awaits every child of God in heaven. There is no struggle when God has your complete trust and dependency on Him for everything in life. There is a contentment found in this experience that can be found in no other place in life on this side of Heaven. It’s Full Salvation that offers the full blessing of deliverance. It’s not just being saved it’s being completely dependent on God without the Old man trying to dictate your life.

This writer does not have all the Biblical answers for all of our encounters in life. I know the new birth is taught in the Bible. I know the baptism with the Holy Ghost is taught in the Bible. Both operations regeneration and Sanctification have their distinct purpose. This discourse on the ministry and sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit was written only to build up ones personal faith in Christ who regenerates and sanctifies. This document is intended only to encourage men to learn more about the truth of the Bible.  This writing is based on an overview of all New Testament records that agrees with the Epistles of Paul, John, James, and Peter after the death of Christ. This writing contains many years of doctrinal clarification and clarifies with words the most blessed experience any man can receive from a living Christ in the Throneroom.  Sanctification entire, the will of God, is one of the greatest blessing’s any believer can receive on the Christian side of life.

Complete freedom from the Adamic Nature

It has been my privilege to research and write about the Adamic Nature and it's relation to the human soul for over 25 years. During these years I have written a series of documents on the subject of the Adamic Nature. These were developed and found to be placed into a sequential order on the Internet. God has opened doors for these writings to be published and scattered around the Globe. Through life's Spirit led endeavor to preach Christ and share Bible Truth, God has allowed me to develop a System of Theology and Internet library...for you the reader. The subject of the Adamic Nature is as subject that many people lack full understanding about. Some students fail to realize the Divine Nature is greater than the Adamic nature. Some say you always have to live with the Adamic Nature regardless of the Divine Nature received in the new birth. Some feel you have to live under sin's rule your whole life as a child of God. From the pulpits across our nation today, countless hearers are being told that the Adamic Nature is greater than God's Grace. This concept is "NOT" Biblically correct. The Bible states, "Greater is Christ and His God-given nature to the new born Christian!" The intent of this writing is to convey what God says about the matter. Not man!

God's holiness is greater than any man's unholiness. In the Grace Covenant we now live under God's Holiness is given to the believing heart and found within the make-up of child of God. Sinners are called to holiness by the preaching of the Gospel message. In the conversion of a sinner when old things pass away "all" things become new. "New things" include the Divine nature given to man which is created by God in the new birth. The new birth is a birth of the new God-given nature of righteousness and holiness. The Divine Nature is granted to fallen man as a result of the broken will that comes through belief and trust in a Savior for personal forgiveness. When the will of fallen man is broken by the Spirit of God the believer (for the first time in his life) has power over the dominion of sin; the lusts of the flesh; and wrongful living. The make-up of a child of God thus is made, "holy".

The Biblical fact of the matter is, "God gives the penitent sinner (which is a believer in Christ) power the do right or what the Bible terms as righteousness. The blessing of God's imputed righteousness flows from the power of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ... into the believing heart" of the penitent. Grace comes into the believing heart. Holiness comes into the believing heart. Righteousness comes in, and the Divine nature comes in. A new creature in Christ is birthed from above. The old will of fallen man was broken. The clean heart from Christ was given. A desire to quit sin was given to the believing heart. A clean conscience came when all guilt from past sins was removed. Grace thus abounds in righteousness and holiness. No condemnation in Christ. Greater is He that is "now" in you. The make-up of a child of God becomes clean and holy...with God-given power to do right.

What does this mean concerning the Adamic Nature? Does the Adamic Nature still exist? If the Divine Nature is greater what about the Adamic Nature? The Adamic Nature still exists...but doesn't rule. The Divine Nature rules and God's Grace is greater than the Adamic. This is Bible Truth. Where sin abounds Grace does much more abound. The problem lies in what people are being told and being taught about the Old Adam. People are taught the Adamic Nature will always get the best of you.  People are taught they will always have to live with this condition. People are misled into believing such falsities. These human opinions and traditional teachings have caused men to fail God, and fall from God by the thousands maybe millions.

The Bible teaches about the Adamic Nature and how to have freedom from its rule and dominion. The New Man is greater than the Old Man. Christian's live the new way (which is holy), not the old way of unholiness. Rebellion against God ceases when you get to Calvary and find forgiveness. Then, and only then can the Spirit of God can show the believing heart how to get rid of the still existing Adamic Nature. The new birth is a new creature with a new way of life. The Adamic Nature only "tries" to rule the new creation in Christ. The Adamic Nature does not rule. There will be memories of the old life but the new life prevails. There will be temptations relating to things you used to do but now you know better. There are old associations but God has shown you how to stay clear of such. This is the truth behind God's opinion and not man's opinion.

The Holy Spirit convicts the sinner and breaks the fallen will enough for fallen man to believe. After conversion the Holy Spirit shows this believing heart how to get away from the Adamic Nature that still tries to rule the life. This is where the power of God comes back into play. The power behind God's Spirit of Holiness shows man "death to self". Self being the place of entry to conflict with the Divine Nature. Self being the weak link into the make-up of the believing heart. Self being the object of God's sanctifying power in the life of a believer. The will of a saved man must now be "crushed" or "destroyed" completely. The Adamic Nature has to be dealt with by the sanctifying power of the Baptism with the Holy Ghost and fire. This baptism which comes after the new birth is God's method of freedom and deliverance from the still existing Adamic Nature.

God gives forgiveness to the sinner but He also gives freedom from the Adamic Nature to the saved man. Yes, you can have complete deliverance from the Old Adam in the baptism with the Holy Ghost and fire. In this blessing of sanctification from the Old Adam you don't only have a broken will, you now have a will completely "crushed" by the power of the Holy Spirit. The human will and self is taken out of the picture. The white flag of surrender goes up. The old man is crucified. The old man is buried.  The old man is put to death. I give up Lord, I'm yours completely. Thank You Jesus.

Freedom from the Adamic Nature is Bible Truth based on leaving Romans 7 and getting into Romans 8. Freedom is not just the broken will but the will is completely crushed! Like being Issac instead of Ishmael. Like coming out of the wilderness and having a Mt. Zion experience. Glory! The Old Adam can be put to death completely. The body of sin can be destroyed. God said so! You can be freed by Grace. Freed from the Old Adam. Delivered from the body of sin that wasn't dealt with when you got saved. Not forgiven...but delivered. No more inner conflict. Surrendered completely. The flesh is crucified  Dead to the old you. The Adamic nature cannot be confessed. The Adamic Nature must be destroyed by God. When God destroys the Adamic Nature you will be "free".

Romans 6:6...Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Sin has reigned unto death…since the Fall of Adam

The nature and power of sin has existed within humanity since the Fall of Adam. The Bible is quite clear that a child from birth is polluted with sin. In the following verse the "Original Sin" is pointed out. In the Greek text it points out Original Sin as "the sin" that reigns unto death. The sin includes both mans fallen state and sinful conduct as well.

Romans 5:21...That as (the) sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord

The sin is the power and dominion of sin that has reigned over humanity since the Fall of Adam. The sin is man's natural propensity of sin inherited from Adam the founding father of humanity. The sin is why God promised a Savior and Redeemer to restore man with what Adam lost. The sin or inherited sin exists in every child that has been born since the Fall of Adam in the Garden. Sin's power of death has existed and reigned over humanity since that day and hour. Sin reigns unto death yet the innocent child is still without account to God. Why? How can a child that is polluted with sin still yet be innocent in the eyes of God? The Holy Scripture clearly states...

Romans 7:9...For I was alive without the law once:

Alive without the Law is the state of a child before the age of accountability without knowledge about sin or God.  Alive was zoe life or a quickening like Adam had before the Fall. A child is innocent, not guilty, and without knowledge of sin in the presence of a Just God. A child is not under Judgment or condemnation that comes from sin's dominion that compels man to act, sinfully. A child polluted with sin is not guilty for Adam's sin but only becomes guilty when the knowledge of sin comes.

Romans 5:13...but sin is not imputed when there is no law

Sin which has a two-fold meaning is not limited to sinful conduct only. Sinful conduct is only the act of sin. The sinful nature is an entity inherited in the human soul since Adam fell. The picture of sin should not be viewed as the act of sin only...but also the very nature of sin that causes children to lie, steal, sneak, cheat, hate, etc.  Scriptures teach that a child is polluted with sin from birth... but not accountable until knowledge of sin and God comes.

Indwelling sin exists within a child from birth! Indwelling sin remains dormant within a child of God! How? Why? Sin is not revived. Revival means it exists. Indwelling sin in the heart of a child is not "revived" without the knowledge of God. A child has no knowledge. Only knowledge about God shows a sinful man what he actually is in light of God.  A child without knowledge...is without understanding of sin or God. The Holy Commandments were given to Israel to reveal sin to Israel. The Commandments kept Israel holy similar to how the Spirit keeps us holy today. As Jewish people grew older through adolescence they learned the knowledge and holiness of God's Word and His oracles given to Israel. Accountability to God comes when God's holiness and righteousness are revealed. In the holiness of God's Commandments ...Indwelling sin is "revived". Revived means sin exists yet is not previously made known. Revived means sin is brought to man's attention or thinking.

Romans 7:9...but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.

When the knowledge of the Holy Commandments comes into man's mental process sin is revealed by the knowledge of God's Law. The Holiness of the Commandments were life restored into the believing hearts of men and women in Israel. Holiness and life from God's Law and Commandments were deliverance from sin, death, and separation from God.  In the holiness of God's Commandments life and innocence were found through the presence of God's Mighty hand. Accountability to God was recognized through God's Commands. The acts of sin only take occasion by man's knowledge of God's Holiness given in the Commandments. Deception caused from the root of sin was thus revealed from the truth and holiness of God's Commandments.

Romans 3:19...for by the law is the knowledge of sin

 Knowledge of the Law and Commandments brought accountability to Israel. Without knowledge of the Law there was no accountability. That's why Paul spoke of when he was a child.

Romans 7:9-11...For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.

Do not limit sin to just an act only. The root of  sin inherited from Adam is what causes men to sin.  Do not forget the fact that sin's dominion over man has reigned since Adam fell in the Garden. Do forget the fact that a child is innocent (even though polluted with sin) in the eyes of God until accountability comes through knowledge. Sin is revived only because it exists.

All of that written to say this, "Unlike any other religion on planet Earth, this is why God promised Christ to be a Savior for humanity".

The Adamic Nature in Sanctification

There are many Biblical terms for the Adamic Nature such as the old man, the body of sin, the carnal mind, the flesh, the Law of sin and death, the natural man, etc. All of these Biblical expressions simply define the moral depravity of man. A man without redemption and man not controlled by the Spirit of God. A man whose will is controlled by sin.

How does the Adamic nature relate to a sinner? How does the Adamic Nature relate to the new born Christian and; how does the Adamic Nature relate to a sanctified man? These questions arise often but are taught and clarified within the contents of the Bible.

In past Blogs I have written about the Adamic Nature; the Adamic Nature in Justification; but never on the Adamic Nature in Sanctification. I'd like to take the liberty elaborate on that topic.

A sinful man is controlled by the Adamic Nature completely. Romans 7 proves that. A Justified man is a pardoned sinner that has received the new birth and a new nature. Romans 1-5 proves that. Justification does not deal with the Adamic Nature, only the past acts of sin. A sinner does not have freedom from the enslaved will to sin. Sin has dominion over man's will, man's actions, and man's character. Romans 1-5 deals with forgiveness, pardon, and Justification from sinful conduct.

A Justified man has a regenerated nature termed as a "Divine Nature" in the Bible. A Divine Nature is a God given power to do right greater than the inherited carnal nature that still exists in the Justified life. This is where Sanctification comes in. Sanctification is the act of God that "rids" a Justified man from the Adamic Nature (that still exists).

Justification and the Adamic Life

Justification makes the believer in Christ eligible to be Sanctified by the Spirit of God's baptism with the Holy Ghost and fire like on Pentecost. Holiness of heart begins in the Justified life. Man has to be holy first to be Sanctified.

Sanctification is the operation of God's Grace that removes the Adamic Nature from a Justified man. Sanctification is not a gradual separation from things of the world. Sanctification is the power of God that "destroys" the body of sin as taught in Romans 6.

Romans 1-5 deals with forgiveness from sin and Justification. The Adamic Nature cannot be forgiven because it is inherited sin. Romans 6 deals with how a Justified man can get rid of the Adamic Nature that is inherited from the fall of Adam. Self must be crucified so the Adamic Nature can be Sanctified. The Spirit of God leads the Justified man to "crucifixion of self". Sanctification by the Spirit of God occurs when self is taken out of the picture. Romans 6 teaches how to get rid of self and be Sanctified by the Spirit.

Romans 7 teaches how man is powerless to the Adamic Nature, especially to those who practice Law. Then sin is mentioned again in Roman's 8 but nothing is mentioned about the acts of sin, forgiveness, or Justification. All of this chapter (Roman's 8) points to complete deliverance from the sinful nature or Indwelling Sin. Being free from the Law of sin and death...not forgiven from sinful conduct.

Deliverance from the Adamic Nature is the object of Roman's 8. The Adamic Nature is the object of Roman's 7; Roman's 6 teaches how to get rid of the Adamic Life; and Roman's 1-5 deals with Justification from the acts of sin. All denominations will agree on Justification but many become divided on the operation of God's Sanctification that delivers man from Indwelling Sin or the Adamic Nature

The Adamic Nature, what it is, what the Scripture teaches about it, how to get rid of it, are doctrines necessary for the Bible students to learn. This type of knowledge is necessary in order to have a life of victory over self, ego, arrogance, high-mindedness, self-sufficiency, works, and self related things that cause hinderance between a "struggling believer" and a life in Christ. A struggle with self can lead back into a life of sin. A deliverance from self can be the path of a Sanctified life.

The magnitude and need for Christ is revealed when the Adamic Nature is taught. That's why I write about the Adamic Nature. Men need to learn they can have victory over the Adamic Life rather than defeat caused from it. The Roman Letter teaches such truth. There are two types of Christian: 1. One with and inner conflict between self and Christ 2. Dead to self and controlled by the Spirit with complete victory over the Adamic Life.

God showed me men can have complete victory over the Adamic Nature when they get Sanctified. That's why I give Christ all the glory when He leads a Justified man to Calvary. Then the object of a Christian is not forgiveness from sins of the past but death to the Old man that tried to wreck the Christian life with Christ. That's why Paul said I am dead with Christ and my life is hid with Christ in God. Crucified with Christ is the Biblical term. There is a life of victory over the Adamic Life...To Christ be the Glory!

A man ruled by …I, me, and mine…43 times in this passage

The make-up of a natural man wants to do good but… sin rules him. In the make-up of a man without Christ he "wants to do good" but he can’t. Man’s choices are often intended to be right but man still does wrong. Why? In bondage to sin, struggling with the flesh, controlled by Indwelling sin. The choices and decisions of a man without Christ are swayed by the Adamic Nature.

The following passage in Romans 7:5 indicates the past life “before Christ when Paul was under Law”…For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. This passage is not to be mixed up with the heart and life of a Christian who is victorious in Christ. Romans 6 is the Christian life and shows man how to get rid of the Adamic Nature. Romans 8 is the sanctified life after man gets rid of the Adamic Nature. Romans 7 is not the life of a child of God controlled by the Holy Spirit. Only the opposite is true. Notice the I, me, and mine mentioned 43 times in the following verses.

Romans 7: 7-21…Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. The main expression here? The enslaved will of fallen man. A perfect picture of a man controlled by the Adamic Nature…under sin. Sin controls his choices, actions, and decisions. I, me, and mine…the self centered man.

The Adamic Nature and Justification

Justification/the new birth makes man an over-comer of the Adamic Nature on the inside; and an over-comer of temptation on the outside.

Justification channels God's Grace into the heart of a believer. The heart of a believer is made clean and holy.

Justification enables the believer in Christ to have victory over the Adamic Nature. How? The empowerment of God's Grace is greater than the inherited carnal nature. The divine nature is not equal to the carnal nature but greater according to God. God's Word confirms such truth in Saint John's Epistle...greater is He in you, than he that's in the world. Peter also confirmed such truth in his Second Epistle in chapter 1 stating how man escapes the corruption in the world when he is made a partaker of the divine nature.
 
Justification by Grace converts sinful men and makes them, over-comers to the Adamic Nature. Justification empowers the believer with enough of Christ to over-come temptations that are encountered in life.
 
Justification rids man from the guilt of the past and brings holiness into the human soul.
 
Justification makes the believer in Christ (not the sinner) eligible to be sanctified from the conflict caused from the still existing Adamic Nature. Sanctification rids man from the Adamic Nature.

Ephesians 4:22 - Put Off the Old Man (part 2 of 3)...Hubert T. Lindsey

Putting of the Old Man is a subject in the Bible that many people don't fully understand in a fast paced world of religion, philosophy, and human interest. The fact of the matter is Paul is addressing "saints" and not sinners at the church at Ephesus. Putting off the Old Man is a death/crucifixion of self that a saint can experience. Death to self is revealed to a saint of God by the Holy Spirit "after" Salvation takes place. Interesting subject matter and a blessing to your life as a child of God. The way of Cain...

We all recognize Adam and Eve and the Fall of man in the Garden of Eden. What about Cain who killed his brother Abel? Cain violated life, nature, and God with the murder of his dear brother Abel...without human example. Notice the way of Cain?  Let's compare Cain's human religious works (without a cry for mercy) with Abel's offering of  sacrifice unto God.

Gen. 4: 2-4...Cain was a tiller of the ground. And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

While Abel obeyed God...Cain disobeyed God and missed God's Divine favor. Cain was without confession or the witness of righteousness in his heart.

Heb. 11:4...By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous,

Gen. 4:5...But unto Cain and to his offering he (God) had not respect.

"The way of  Cain consisted of self made human religious worship".

1 John 3:12...Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one,

The wicked one was Cain's inherited propensity of sin. Simply termed as the, "Adamic Nature" that has tainted the human family since the Transgression of Adam.

Perhaps someone has departed from the faith of their believing parents. Abel didn't depart from the faith, but Cain did. Cain was a defiant and open sinner against the God of Creation. Cain was the first child of the fallen race, after the Fall of Adam. Cain had no experiential background in sin or disobedience to God. Cain was the first Biblical example of an unbeliever. The way of Cain was blind to the Devil's deception upon his mother, Eve. Cain heard from God directly and knew God...yet Cain still left the presence of God. Cain's ways were evil, defiant, and godless. Unlike Abel, Cain rejected what God wanted from him concerning religious worship. Cain turned against the God of all Creation.

Gen 4:16...and Cain went out from the presence of the LORD

Let's examine to the way of Cain in light of the present human family. Compare humanity and the unbelieving world today, with the self made human religious ways of Cain. If we have eyes to see we can clearly see that our modern religious world has drifted into the way of Cain. The ways of Cain have become a beacon in the life of society. Those who say God is about love and not about Judgment have gone in the way of Cain. Those who substitute religious works and religious ceremony for the death and resurrection of Saviour have gone the way of Cain. Those who substitute philosophy for Divine Revelation have gone the way of Cain. Society is elevated with the nature and ways of Cain. Cain is in the business world. Cain is in the workplace. Cain is in our educational systems. Cain has subtly formed in the Religious world.

Jude 1:11...Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain,

Someday Cain and those who have gone the way of Cain will be in the lake of fire...

"There is only one way out of the ways of Cain. That is finding the person of Christ; finding personal forgiveness through Christ's shed blood at Calvary; obtaining a righteous witness in your heart; and going through life God's way".

Behind every sin...is rejection of Christ

Rejection of Jesus Christ? What causes rejection? Where does rejection come from? Does rejection come out of choice or is it a result of man's fallen nature? These questions arise...but what does God say about the subject of rejection of Christ? What does the Bible tell us?

As I write this Blog I think over and over again about how many people sin against God and wilfully reject the truth about Christ. I note that behind every sin is "rejection of a Savior". Sin and disobedience are products of the fallen nature of man. Sin is caused from man's natural rejection of Christ. The natural man is totally out of harmony with God because the nature and will are morally corrupt. Men are sinful by nature and compelled to sin and reject the truth about Christ. They are enslaved to unrighteousness...not by choice, but by nature. The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God as they are foolishness to him. Therefore God said these people are children of wrath.

We are told in the Bible that men are "willingly" ignorant. Wilful ignorance is natural rejection of Christ and sinful by nature. The action and character of man is controlled by sin. The conscience is smoothered by self justification that considers itself right when actually wrong in the eyes of God. Why? rejection of Christ. Rejection of Christ says, " I'm to young to get saved". Rejection of Christ says, "I'm not ready yet". Rejection of Christ says, "I'm a good person because I give to charity". Sin is based on man's rejection of Christ.

What kind of godly choice can an unsaved man really make in the eyes of God? An unsaved man can choose to do right and still do wrong in the eyes of God. The intent was right. The action was wrong because Christ was still rejected and there was no righteousness from God within the heart of man. Righteousness comes from Christ not from within a natural man. An unsaved man's decisions are altered likewise because of rejection of Christ. The choices and decisions of an unsaved man can appear to be right in the eyes of the human being... and still be wrong in the eyes of God. Why? rejection of Christ. The will is still tainted. The choices are still morally corrupt. Why? The nature is fallen and unregenerated. Without power from above. Without the power of God's Grace. Without Salvation of the human soul that comes through a Savior's forgiveness that flows from Calvary.

Sin is not essential in the child of God because the child of God accepts, trusts, and has assurance in the person of Christ. Behind obedience to God is faith and certainty in what Christ did and what He's doing now. There is no rejection in faith in Christ. There is no rejection in trust in Christ. There is not rejection in certainty that is placed in the person of Christ. Faith, trust, and certainty bring obedience to God and the inner work of Salvation into the human soul. Belief in Christ consumes rejection. Belief in Christ brings the Grace of God into the human soul. Belief in Christ staggers not. Belief in Christ doesn't waver like the waves of the sea. Belief allows obedience to flow from the power of Calvary granted to the human soul. The desire to sin is changed to a desire to do right. The choices of the saved man become godly choices. The decisions of the saved man become godly decisions. Ignorance becomes knowledge of what Christ did and what He's doing. A child God knows not to do wrong. He is accountable to God because He accepts what Christ did for him personally. He is no longer wilfully ignorant. He's changed by Grace. Morally right as a new creature...created by God. Old things passed away.

Jesus is the new way. Jesus is the new life. Jesus is the truth that gives us a way to "escape" the enslavement of sin. Has Jesus became real to you? Are you morally changed by the Grace of God? Does the Spirit of God control you? Acceptance, belief, and certainty in Christ. No more rejection. Sin doesn't live here any more. Obedient and right in the eyes of God. Christ made you that way. Glory! Isn't that beautiful? Behind this blessed life of holiness is a Savior who takes care of His family and meets their needs. Aren't you glad to be part of the family of God? Goodbye rejection, Hello Jesus.

I am not ashamed of the Gospel for it is the power of God unto Salvation.

You don't have to let the old nature get the best of you

Christians! There is a better life than having an inner struggle going on in your heart...all the time. God doesn't want Christian's to struggle with the sinful nature. He gives man a way to get rid of sin. God provides a means of deliverance from the struggle caused from the old nature. It's called sanctification by the Grace of God. The struggle with the Old Adam is what many Christian's deal with at this present hour. This struggle allows the devil's nature to get the best of people from time to time... but it doesn't have to be that way. Greater is He that's in you than he that's in the world. The Bible teaches Christian's are able to overcome the wicked one. It's also clear that this statement is true in a saved man's life...before he gets sanctified.

1 John 2:14...and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

1 John 5:18..We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

People are no taught about this in the Church World. If people were taught about this...they would find out they could be delivered from the devil's nature instead of defeated by it. It would be confirmed with the Holy Scriptures and then you would see alot more victorious Christian's. They wouldn't allow the old nature to knock them down as much. They wouldn't allow the Devil to find a place in their lives. They wouldn't constantly proclaim defeat. They would be professing victory over the Old Adam. People would have a stronger witness and understand the truth of the Holy Scriptures more. Sanctifying power that follows the new birth... can be found and experienced in this life unlike what they are told through through human opinion. I realize the Devil can knock a man down and God will pick him back up. Over and over again. A sanctified man won't let the Devil knock him down. The power of God's Grace in the sanctified heart gives man a better life and a stronger grip on the Holy Spirit. This life produces a life of victory over the Old Adam.

The life of victory over the Old Adam is not found in the new birth. The new birth is where forgiveness is found not victory over the Old Adam. Victory over the Old Adam is found after man is born of the Spirit. A new life is made in Christ then crucifixion to self occurs. The believer realizes he has to get out of the way in order to have the life without struggle, without the inner conflict, and without the war in his members. That life is found only through a sanctified heart given by the Spirit of God. Entire sanctification can be found and experienced on this side of heaven. Yes, you can be entirely sanctified on this side of Heaven. When sanctification is found (in the life of a believer in Christ) the Old Adam will not get the best of you anymore. The struggle with the old Adam is taken away. You don't have peace in Christ you have the peace of God that "rules" your heart. No more inner conflict. No more war in your members. No more struggle with self.

Sanctification is not a progressive experience that gradually comes in the life of a believer. It's the final work of the Holy Spirit unlike the initial work of the Spirit in the new birth. Sanctification takes place upon a believer (not a sinner)...like it did upon the Apostles on the day of Pentecost. Then later this subject is taught by Peter who testified this same sanctifying experience took place upon the Gentiles (house of Cornelius) like it did on them on the day of Pentecost. The Gentiles had experienced a purifying experience in the Baptism with the Holy Ghost and fire like the Apostles did on the day of Pentecost. They were saved first (born of the Spirit) and then later they received the sanctifying power of the Baptism with the Holy Ghost right on the spot...instantaneously. they were filled! They were emptied of self! They were purified from the Adamic life! Sanctification came to purify their hearts from the still existing nature of the Old man. This purification by the Spirit of God dealt with the Old Adam that still existed in their lives. They were already saved prior to this Baptism with the Holy Ghost. So what were these saved men purified from? The Old Adam.

Acts 15:7-9...And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

God knows the Old Adam can get the best of people. He gives man a way to be delivered from that. Sanctification through the baptism with the Holy Ghost and fire is the only way to find victory over the Old Adam. Sanctification "purifies" or ""burns up" the Old Nature. That's what John the Baptist meant when he said,

Matt 3:11-12...I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

Christ will burn up the chaff in your heart. Christ purifies and sanctifies! Christ destroys the Devil's nature. Christ forgives the sinner in the new birth...but Christ gets the believer out of the Devils prison house...when the believer is sanctified entire with the Baptism with the Holy Ghost and fire. Then the old nature will not get the best of you anymore. The new new nature now rules without a struggle...by the Grace of God! Isn't that beautiful?

This stuff needs to be taught more! This stuff needs to be experienced in the hearts of faithful men...then it needs to be lived out and witnessed. What better place than Churches on Trial? Sanctification will produce fruit. The fruit of Sanctification is... the Old Adam will not get the best of you anymore. Amen?

The natural man

A frail voice from Britthaven nursing home in Raliegh, NC was the voice for Christ before Brother Lindsey passed. I looked forward to our frequent phone conversations about the things of God and the truth of His Word. Brother Lindsey's compassionate heart and knowledge about Christ left an impact on this writer that will never be forgotten. That was one of the things that prompted this Blog.

I remember on one occasion, Brother Lindsey quoting the scripture verse about the "natural man". Brother Lindsey carried this heartfelt conviction and belief with him all the way into eternity. His frail yet authoritative voice stated the following verse...

1 Cor 2:14...But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

That day I realized a natural man was not a spiritual man. A natural man doesn't have Christ in his heart. A natural man does not receive things from the Spirit of God. To be honest spiritual things are foolishness to a natural man. A natural man has no knowledge of deliverance from sin nor does he know anything about having a clean heart.

Being able to understand and distinguish what is spiritual and what is not spiritual has been one of the greatest blessings this writer has ever received in this life. In 2010 I am honored to be a child of God led by the Spirit of God. I am honored that Brother Lindsey had enough holy boldness to tell this writer the truth about what a child of God really was. I have cherished those talks and conversations from Brother Lindsey for many years as they have built this writer up in the faith that I have in Jesus Christ. I have always trusted the message that Brother Lindsey preached for Christ. God honored that preaching as Brother Lindsey simply led me to believe and trust more in the Christ he served.

So many times Brother Lindsey brought the word of knowledge to this writer. He taught me the contrast between fallen man and the power of a resurrected Saviour. Yes, I remember vividly that frail voice describing the "natural man" as taught in the Bible. Today in my personal ministry I see the natural man in the world I live in. I've witnessed spiritual men going back to their natural state as they fell into sin, left Christ, and had their conscience seared like with the hot iron. The natural man is hopeless and without strength to overcome sin. He is a fallen being destitute of truth and righteousness that comes from the person of Christ that saves us. The natural man will even reject the truth about Christ because he imagines that it is foolishness or that man cannot have a holy heart or live a holy life. A natural man grows to enjoy the pleasure of sin and wrongful living above obedience and right-standing with God. A natural man is without the Spirit of Holiness.

This blog site is dedicated to Brother Lindsey's ministry for Christ. That ministry still impacts lives today in 2010. I respect the fact that Brother Lindsey taught this writer how to be a full time believer and not a part time believer. Brother Lindsey did not teach sinning religion...he taught that Christians were "full time" spiritual men and not natural upon occasion. The great contrast that he taught was that a natural man was fallen before the new birth. After the new birth man was no longer fallen he became, saved by the Grace of God. The believer in Christ becomes a spiritual man who lives, walks, and talks the Spirit life of a child of God.

The natural man is made a spiritual man when Christ is found in the human soul. I thank God for those little and simple conversations with Brother Lindsey. I look forward to sharing Eternity in Heaven with Brother Lindsey when I leave this life. Until then I will serve the Lord with a whole heart and always remember the impact that Brother Lindsey had on this writers life.

The Adamic nature...

The Adamic nature is a subject of the Bible that is not taught on much today. One reason is because the Adamic Nature is highly misunderstood. Another reason is because there are divided opinions on the Adamic Nature that vary from denomination to denomination. Some say that Christian's always live with the Adamic nature. Others say that Christian's can never get rid of it. I personally am led to believe the Bible teaches the Christian can be rid of the Adamic Nature's stronghold through crucifixion of self and the Baptism with the Holy Ghost.

Here are some Biblical terms used throughout the Bible to express of the Adamic nature or man's inherited propensity to sin against God.

The "Law of Sin and Death" is a spiritual expression of the Adamic nature. This is man's knowledge of the inner inclination that cause's man to do wrong.

The "Flesh" is the physical expression of the Adamic nature. This is the physical act of the wrong that man does in the eyes of God.

The "Carnal Mind" is the mental expression of the Adamic nature. This is the actual thinking behind man's wrongdoing in the eyes of God.

All the above terms are something man has knowledge of. Law brings knowledge. Knowledge brings obligation, or responsibility.

Rom 8:2...For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

The law of sin and death is mans knowledge of the inner, the physical, and the mental capacity of indwelling sin.

The Roman Epistle...Chapter's 1-8...Distinction made between Justification and Sanctification

The following audio/video was made at a Bible Study last night at the Upper Room (12-17-2009) by Rick Roehm. By the Grace of God and the ministry of the Holy Spirit we were able to capture from our service and show the beautiful distinction between Justification for the sinner and Sanctification for the believer in Christ. This overview of the Roman Letter was expounded on and kept in context for the edification and perfection of the saints for the work of the ministry. Preface to, "The Walking Bible" a biography of Hubert T. Lindsey

This biography is about a unique man of God who was known by many as the Walking Bible. He was a holiness preacher who at the age of 15 preached his first sermon only one day after he was saved. He preached five times the day after that, and seven times the day after that. What made this individual so unique was his passion to win men and women to Christ. He had a memory of the Bible that words find it hard to describe. At the age of 15 he memorized the entire New Testament and most of the Old Testament. His dedication to Christ was never taken lightly from the first day of his Salvation. He was an uncompromising believer in Christ and practiced “real” Christian living. He was a preacher that preached truth and holiness his entire life as an evangelist. He had unusual manifestations of the Holy Spirit in Divine Judgment and in Divine Healings. His main objective in life was to get people to Salvation and holiness through the person of Christ that he ministered. For 7 decades he gave “all to Christ” by scattering Biblical Truth across the U.S. He helped multiplied thousands find forgiveness for their sins and Eternal Salvation through the person of Christ he preached. The Gospel was the center of this preacher’s heart, life, and message. His name is Hubert T. Lindsey. He was given the nickname “Holy” Hubert in the 60’s while preaching on a radical campus setting at Berkeley CA. You can go anywhere in this country in 2008 and you’ll meet people who knew Holy Hubert or were touched by his ministry.

Hubert Lindsey lived up to his nickname, “The Walking Bible”. He was a living Epistle known and read of all men. In God’s eyes Hubert was a servant for the Lord, a preacher of the Gospel, an evangelist for Christ, a minister of Biblical truth, a teacher of teacher’s, and an Apostle of the resurrection of Christ. In 1989 this writer personally asked Brother Lindsey about getting certified, or obtaining a license or a degree and Hubert stated back, “There are two titles spoken of in the Bible that man can obtain in this life; one is the new birth, and the second is to be sanctified holy. Read it in your Bible!” That was it. That was Hubert’s response. Straight from the Bible without opinion and no small talk! That was just one of many reasons why people could call Hubert Lindsey the Walking Bible.

From a denominational standpoint Hubert was a Baptist in the early part of his ministry. His theology for 35 years was based on the doctrine of once saved always saved. This theology however; was uprooted and changed after 35 years in the ministry. The reason for that conversion was that Hubert went beyond the new birth experience (a strict Baptist fundamental) and found the sanctifying work of the Baptism with the Holy Ghost and fire like other men experienced on the day of Pentecost. Contrary to the Baptist school of thought Hubert’s experience of Entire Sanctification through the baptism with the Holy Ghost and fire took place decades after his initial salvation. Sanctification through the work of the Holy Spirit revolutionized Hubert’s thinking, his Baptist theology and his future ministry for Christ.

Hubert’s knowledge of the Bible after the experience of sanctification through the Holy Ghost allowed him to understand there was more than the outer work of speaking in unknown tongues like many Pentecostals believe and practice. Hubert realized there was also an inner work that took place that delivered the believer from a still existing carnal heart that many believers struggle with their entire Christian life. From Hubert’s renewed perspective of Salvation the sanctifying experience of the Baptism with the Holy Ghost and fire was “full Salvation” for this believer in Christ. The experience of Entire Sanctification is confirmed throughout all the New Testament Epistles. Entire Sanctification became a major focal point in Hubert’s ministry for Christ, his theological teachings, and his preaching of the Gospel. Brother Lindsey did confess however; he witnessed signs, wonders, and miracles wrought by Christ his entire life in the ministry, even in the early years of his ministry before he experienced and understood the Holy Spirit’s work of Entire Sanctification.

Creation, the Fall of Adam, and re-creation of the holiness of man…

· Gen 1:26…And God said, Let us make man in our image

God the creator of all things perfect in love and holiness created man in His own image. At creation in the Garden of Eden man was created morally and eternally perfect to live a contented life in the presence of God. Adam, the first man and head of the human race was created with a divine nature in the image of God. In the beginning Adam lived in subjection to the Creator through obedience and holiness of heart given by God at creation. Human guilt and shame did not exist in the conscience of man because there was no violation to the Divine law of the Creator. Adam was created with a free will and had liberty to choose right from wrong. As a like figure of Christ, Adam reflected the morality of the entire human family and was created without a sinful nature. Adam knew God; recognized God; and was instructed by God not to disobey the command of eating from the forbidden tree. When Adam violated the Law of God, sin and death came into existence and tainted humanity that followed.

Before the fall of man and before death entered the human family, mans eternal state of being was perfect in love, holiness, and obedience of conduct in the presence of God. God intended for man to be without shame, innocent, and in perfect communion with Him as Creator. Adam and Eve became violators of Divine Law and broke communion with God through disobedience to His commandment. From this original sin consciousness of guilt and shame seeped into the human family through the acts of sin. Disobedience to God tainted Adam and Eve as well as the entire human family from generation to generation. The result of this original sin ushered in the effects of God’s curse upon the earth, upon the serpent that tempted Eve, and upon the seed of man in the form of a carnal heart and depraved nature. Unlike Adam who was created with a free will, all men born after the fall were polluted with a sinful nature. Carnality from birth now affects the way man thinks, chooses, and decides. The will of man is no longer free, but enslaved from birth to an inherited depraved nature.

Since the fall of man, the root of sin has polluted the human heart and led man away from any way of regaining a harmonious relationship with God like Adam and Eve experienced in the Garden. That type of harmony could never be found or achieved by anyone outside of the imputed righteousness of God through mans belief in Christ. The first promise made by God was given to the Serpent after Eve yielded to temptation in Genesis 3:15, 16. This prophetic utterance was recorded by Moses and contains both the root of sin in humanity and the magnitude of how man could be delivered from sin through the promised power of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Man’s only way to regain right standing with God, was to exercise faith in God as Abel did. Abel reflected right standing with God by faith in God. Cain reflected a man out of harmony with God and murdered his brother Abel. Cain had no previous example of murder and was the first biblical example of unregenerate man after the fall.

What Adam lost pertaining to the moral character of man can be re-created by God’s Grace and Mercy through the redemptive power of Christ. A sinful man can be forgiven by God through trusting in the redemptive work of Christ on the cross. A forgiven man can be delivered from a sinful nature by faith in the power of a resurrected and Living Christ. Either or both these experiences are the effects of God’s restoration to the soul of man concerning what Adam lost at the fall. Adam lost a Divine nature which took man out of harmony with God, but Christ can re-create it! The re-creating work of Christ in the new birth and the renewal that comes from the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer work hand in hand in restoring man to the image of God. The holy heart and holy conduct of man before the fall was the plan of God at creation. The re-created holy heart and holy conduct of a believer since the fall is the plan of God in the church, the body of Christ. Faith in the person of Christ is what provides this miraculous re-creation to anyone that trusts Christ alone for the forgiveness of sins!
