"Holy" Hubert Lindsey known by some as the..."Father of the Jesus Movement"

In 1965 God revealed to Brother Lindsey (a former Baptist) it was time to downsize his large-scale ministry. His ministry at that time included a staff of 35 men including songleaders. God told him to go to the West Coast.

This was during the Viet Nam War era where much revolt was breaking out through the U.S. at that time. Hubert obeyed God, downsized, and went to California. For years he claimed he preached in Berkeley with hardly any results. He mentioned how hard times were for him and his wife, economically. He claimed at times his efforts seemed vain as no one was giving their heart to the Lord, but he still continued with what Christ sent him to do. Then, things began happening! Miracles began taking place!

After years of hardly anyone giving their heart to Christ people began changing their minds and accepting the Christ Brother Lindsey preached. Hundreds maybe thousands began giving their hearts to Christ. Lost men and women were turning to Christ and finding Salvation through Hubert Lindsey's witness for the Lord of Glory! Protesters and people from every walk of life, were being converted as Holy Hubert Lindsey honored his call to the ministry.

The perseverance of Holy Hubert Lindsey and the move of the Holy Spirit on the West Coast finally broke into revival for the Glory of Christ! College students, drug addicts, street people, prostitutes, homosexuals, and all walks of life began turning from sin and giving their hearts to Christ. Hubert proclaimed that even police officers, mayors, doctors, and high ranking government officials were also giving their hearts to Christ during this great outbreak for the Lord. The Jesus Movement was forming. Men and women great and small were turning from sin and trusting in the Christ - Holy Hubert was preaching! People were being forgiven, saved, and finding peace through an outbreak of Holy Ghost Revival on the West Coast!

This effectual work of the Spirit of Christ was later recognized as the "Jesus Movement" and was it spreading like wild-fire. This mighty move of the Spirit of God was also recognized by certain religious and political figureheads. Among those were the Pope of Rome and President Richard Nixon who both recognized and declared Holy Hubert to be the Father of the Jesus Movement. Holy Hubert stated many times throughout his life and ministry that the Pope of Rome told him personally that the Jesus Movement was the greatest move of the Spirit of God since the Azusa Street Revival at the turn of the century.

Holy Hubert Lindsey (photos) preaching the "Open Air"...1970 Vortex 1...Oregon

Brother Lindsey preached Christ in the "Open Air" in Oregon, 1970. This event was called "Vortex 1" that all of you must read about on the Internet. These were very tubulent years as alot was going on in the US. Christ sent Holy Hubert there for a reason...to win men and women to Christ! I was told by the man that gave me these photos that Holy Hubert greeted Huey Newton (an activist with the Black Panther movement) at this event with a hugh hug...full of love! Holy Hubert pointed fingers, preached Hell's Fire...but he also loved people enough to carry the Gospel of Christ to them. Hubert's Gospel was a Christ centered Gospel that impacted people tremendously and ministered in the Spirit. I have had people contact me that were "changed by Brother Lindey's ministry 40 years ago". What a testimony for Christ!

I've been personally advocating the theology and ministry of Holy Hubert Lindsey for 23 years. Brother Lindsey wanted his material out there. Him and I spoke about this often before he died! Brother Lindsey left behind his entire life of Theology and ministry in audio form that were preserved on audio cassettes by the hundreds. I have been transposing these to CD format and publishing on the Internet for years! Brother Lindsey also left behind books (the Kingdom series..a two volume set) that need to be re-published for the cause of Christ...as the modern Church era is so mixed up and confused in theology. So much knowledge...so much confusion...so much work to be done for Christ! These books I speak of are actually text books that teach people how to rightly divide the Holy Scriptures. Try to get them every way possible.

At the Churches on Trial Blog I currently am publishing Brother Lindsey's timeless teaching of holiness on audio/video. For the past 8 years I've been compiling information and writing about Hubert Lindsey and his ministry for Christ. It's been a beautiful experience as Iv'e met and corresponded with people all over this nation who were touched or impacted with Brother Lindsey's Gospel about the Lord Jesus Christ. I have actually heard from "many" who were touched by his preaching 40 years ago...and are still Christian today! Glory! What a testimony! What substance! What foundation!

For years I've been attempting to write a biography titled, "The Walking Bible" a documentary on Holy Hubert Lindsey. As God allows it will come together on time. I also posted these photos on the Holy Hubert Lindsey Facebook at the following link.

Does talking the talk (about Christ) automatically mean you are walking the walk in Christ?

The Bible says...man first believes from the heart unto righteousness...then confession is made with the mouth. Romans 10:10

First, man is made right by the power of God.
Second, he talks about how Christ made him right.

He walks the walk first...then he talks the talk, second!

Why do I bring this up?

Some people say they are Christian...but live like the unsaved world lives. Where is the moral change? Where is the power of God? Where is the clean heart and holy living?

If you've got the power of God...Brother you've got it! You won't be ashamed to live it, walk it, talk it, testify to it, or show it in your character.

The morally changed heart and life is the fruit of the saving Grace of God. The immoral heart and character is the fruit of the unsaved man.

Hubert Lindsey was a wise man of God. He taught me about the moral righteousness that flows from Calvary. That righteousness that flows from Calvary is why Rick Roehm walk's the walk and talk's this talk.

Are you contented in your walk with Christ?

Heb 13:5...Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Alot of people don't even know what "real contentment" is. Real contentment is being satisfied with the things you have in Christ! Nothing more...nothing less! Glory!

Learned it from Brother Lindsey's preaching in my earlier years! Experienced it life...after I believed what Brother Lindsey preached! What did Brother Lindsey preach? Christ...Who He is and what He's doing now from the Throneroom.

Fellowship and communion in the Spirit...

Last Sunday night our dear Brother Jim Denton from Waterford Mi. came to the Upper Room to bring us the Word of God. Along with his good Word he brought fellowship and communion in the Holy Spirit. He played the old Hymnals on guitar...I saw the light, This little light of mine, He is Lord, Mine eyes have seen the Glory... What a blessing! And little Christen (our four year old noisemaker and future Devil fighter) was so touched!

For 2 1/2 years we have continued to do the work of the ministry at the Upper Room helping people to be enlightened to the truth of Gospel centered on our Lord Saviour Jesus Christ. People travel for long distances to visit us and fellowship with us. People from all walks of life come to hear the the Word of God. We reach people with the Gospel that may not ever be reached and we also minister to Christians to fortify what they already have in Christ... to give a better foundation...that helps people to get through trials and various problems of life.

Glory to Christ who is behind this ministry! Glory to Christ who is behind this Blog! Glory to Christ who is behind this writer! I'm glad He bought me! All I have to do is glorify Him in my body and Spirit!

Many prayers go out! We believe God for miracles! Blessed be the name of the Lord!

A small glimpse of the "inner and outer" work of the Holy Spirit...

The "Inner work of the Holy Spirit in the heart of a believer"… God’s preparation for the Rapture of the Church

• The Holy Spirit reproves the hearts of sinful men and leads them to repentance.
• After repentance the Holy Spirit baptizes the believer into the body of Christ.
• A believer is thus sealed with the Holy Spirit
• A member of the body of Christ is regenerated by the Spirit of God through the new birth.
• The Holy Spirit testifies and reveals Christ to the hearts of members of the body of Christ
• The Holy Spirit shows members of the body of Christ how to get rid of the Adamic nature that still tries to rule their lives
• In the baptism with the Holy Ghost and fire…The Holy Spirit purifies the heart of the believer from the Adamic life and nature that still tries to rule
• After the sanctifying power of the Baptism with the Holy Ghost is experienced, members of the body of Christ are…renewed by the Spirit.
• All believers patiently await the Rapture of the Church
• The Church in the Rapture is one that is holy, and without spot or blemish

The "Outer work of the Holy Spirit “hindering” the reign of the Antichrist" … until the Rapture of the Church

The work of the Holy Spirit is not limited to Salvation and Sanctification of the soul only. The Holy Spirit is what keeps the Antichrist from full reign today! The omnipresence of the Holy Spirit is what keeps the mercy of God present in this Church Age! What happens after the Church is taken out? The Rapture allows the seven year Tribulation on Earth to begin. The Tribulation is the ministering of God’s Wrath upon the Earth. God’s mercy departs with the Church in the Rapture. After the Rapture the Antichrist or Man of Sin steps in, under the dominion of Satan!

At present the omnipresence of the Holy Spirit “holds back” the Wrath of God taught in the book of Revelation. At present the omnipresence of the Holy Spirit “holds back” powers of Satan who will set up his kingdom for seven years when the Church is taken out. At present the omnipresence of the Holy Spirit in the Church “holds back” the Man of sin/Antichrist promised to be revealed at the beginning of the seven year Tribulation.

The Holy Spirit is the “hinderer” of God’s Divine Wrath and the Antichrist. The Rapture is the Churches final judgment that “escapes the Wrath of God” during the seven year Tribulation. At present…God’s mercy in the Holy Spirit is the only thing that hinders the Wrath of God from coming upon the Church! The Antichrist cannot come until the Church is taken out first. Satan’s dominion will come after the Rapture. The Antichrist will move in at that time under Satan’s dominion. Satan’s kingdom and the Antichrist are both hindered in this present Church Age until the omnipresence of the Holy Spirit steps aside, at the Rapture of the Church.

Many people understand the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit in the human soul. Fewer understand the hindering work of the Holy Spirit that saves the Church world from the Wrath of God. Why? The Divine Wrath and Judgment of an angry God are subjects seldom taught on today. When the Holy Spirit is viewed as more than a reprover and sanctifier He will be seen as a hinderer of God’s Wrath. The Holy Spirit hinders the Wrath of God… withholds the Wrath of God… and steps aside from the Divine Wrath of God at the Rapture of the Church. The hindering work of the Holy Spirit is the only thing keeps the Antichrist from stepping into our present Church Age! Here’s the best verse in the Bible that describes the hindering work of the Holy Spirit that is holding back the reign of the Antichrist in this present Church Age.

• 2 Thess 2:4-8… Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God (the Antichrist). Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? And now ye know what withholdeth (the Holy Spirit) that he (the Antichrist) might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let (the Holy Spirit), until he be taken out of the way (the Holy Spirit steps aside). And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy (the Antichrist) with the brightness of his coming ;

William E. Blackstone author of… Jesus is Coming…This mystery of Lawlessness already worked in the days of the apostle, but there has been a hindering power, which, we believe, is the Holy Spirit, in His present manifestation, or office, viz.: as the reprover of the world and gatherer of the Church. When He, the restraining one, is taken out of the way (or out of the midst), at the rapture of the Church, then shall the mystery be unveiled, and the Lawless one be revealed (2 Thess. 2:7-8).

Christ’s final moments at Calvary

God’s plan of redemption was accomplished in the final moments of the crucifixion when Christ stated, “It is finished”. (John 19:30) Only dimly revealed through the Law and the Prophets, the truth of the promised Messiah according to God’s plan was climatically revealed at the actual death of a Savior. The miracle of Salvation for all mankind was contained within the very sacrificial offering of Christ. What Christ gave at Calvary provided fallen man with deliverance from the bondage of sin; divine healing for the body; and an escape from Eternal Judgment in the afterlife. According to the purpose of God, Christ came down from Heaven as a man and gave his life as a ransom. The ransom He paid was His suffering and death on the cross.

• Matt 20:28…Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

In the final moments of Calvary there was loneliness within the heart of the Christ. He was alone when the Father turned away from the sin’s of humanity that He bore in His physical body at Calvary. Christ, who was without sin, bore the punishment in His body... for the sins of humanity.

• Matthew 27:46…My God, my God why has thou forsaken me…
• 2 Corinthians 5:21…For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin;

What Christ bore on the cross was a payment to God for all humanities hopelessness, helplessness, and rejection of the truth concerning Christ. The long awaited ransom prophesied through the ages was now paid to the Father through the completed work of suffering and death on the cross. Within the death of a Savior an exchange was made for God’s Divine Judgment of putting away sin and its Eternal punishment (the unbeliever’s consequence for the sins committed in this life) that comes in the afterlife.

• Heb 9:26…For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
• Heb 9:28…So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Isaiah the Prophet vividly foretold that Christ was to be like a lamb brought to the slaughter. (Isaiah 53) Innocent from birth Christ was the very Lamb of God who was without sin and spoke no guile from His mouth; however he did bare grief, sorrow, and Eternal punishment for all the sins of humanity, in His own body on the tree.

• 1 Peter 2:22-24…Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

God’s righteous Judgment required that Christ bare punishment for the sins of humanity. In return Calvary provided deliverance for all believers in Christ first to receive a clean heart to live holy rather than unholy in this present life; and second to miss the consequence of sins Eternal Punishment for the unbeliever beyond the grave. In Christ’s final moments of human life on earth, God who does not stand present for sin, turned away from the sin’s of humanity that Christ bore in His body at Calvary. This was the reason Christ cried out, “My God, my God why has thou forsaken me”.

According to Divine Law the physical body of Christ was given as a sacrificial offering to God. For this reason, God created the spiritual body of Christ, the church as a place of security for those who trust in the shed blood of Christ alone for the forgiveness of sins. The redemptive power of Christ at Calvary is why those with faith in Him can have refuge and deliverance from sin, death, and eternal punishment. By the Grace of God Christ himself experienced death as a man so God could destroy* him who has the power of death…that is the Devil.

• Heb 2:9-10…But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things
• Heb 2:14-15…that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

*Divine Judgment has been granted upon the Devils existence. At the end of time in the Kingdom Age (when everything becomes Eternal as it was in the Garden of Eden) the Devil, death, and Hell are all cast into the sea of fire. Revelation 20:10-15

The redemptive work of Christ at Calvary can destroy the power of sin and death that separates man from God. The redemptive power of Calvary offers any believer a new heart and new life in Christ. What Christ did at Calvary can provide divine healing to the physical body of man. Calvary was the last part of Christ’s human life of suffering that paid the price for all humanities infirmities and sicknesses. It pleased God to bruise Him. Why? God’s plan of redemption allows every situation of every human being (since the fall of Adam) to be judged in light of the Savior’s suffering and death on the cross.

• Matt 8:17… That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
• Isa 53:3-10…He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. And he made his grave with the wicked and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him

From the fall of Adam until Christ’s earthly ministry, men of God looked forward to a fulfillment of the promised Savior. The Savior appeared; He was then crucified to complete the plan of redemption for fallen man; and then resurrected from the grave as spoken by the Prophets. Today, He’s exalted and seated at the right hand of the Father where He resides as the head of the church, the body of Christ. Members of the body of Christ are miraculously united in the comfort and directive of the promised Holy Spirit sent down from Heaven.

We members of the body of Christ look back 2010 years ago to the place where Christ suffered and died according to the testimony of the Prophets and Apostles. We are blessed with thankfulness for the new heart received and the revelation of Christ we have through the Holy Spirit. Better yet we have a future hope that lies in the better life beyond this present evil world*. As God in the flesh,

• Christ was the Suffering Savior
• Christ was obedient unto death even the death on the cross
• Christ carried deep sorrow because of the condition of man’s heart
• Christ was Israel’s final sin offering
• Christ bore the punishment for sin in His body

• 1 Tim 2:5-6…For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

*I am personally thankful for everything Christ did in His final hour; and the future I have with Him on the other side in Heaven. With gladness I testify to everything I know about Christ in the content of these writings. May His Spirit continue to inspire this writer’s heart and life to inspire others as I have been blessed. These writings are made in memory of Dr. Hubert Lindsey…I was able to get this writing to my mother also...before she went to Heaven. Blessed be the holy name of my Lord....Forever.
