What is the sin unto death or the unpardonable sin?

Many times people have wondered what the “sin of death” really is. The sin of death is an unpardonable sin. It is a sin where people can find no place for repentance. It is a sin that brings Eternal Death with no possible means of ever finding Eternal life again. The sin of death in 1 John 5 referred to a sin where the Gnostics denied the fact that Christ was a human being. They rejected the fact that Christ was a man with flesh and blood like you and I. They denied He was a man who suffered a cruel punishment and death so that you and I could find personal forgiveness in this finished work of God on the cross at Calvary. The Gnostics denied this redemptive work of Christ at Calvary and thus committed a sin unto death.

1 John 5:16…There is a sin unto death:

This sin unto death is a place where God’s mercy ceases and can longer be found. It’s a scary and Judgmental but a true concept of the Bible. It’s a place of God’s Judgment that’s experienced before death to the physical body. It’s not to be confused with turning away…but it is a turning “against” the redemptive work of Christ at Calvary.

Other Scriptures indicate (Hebrew 6:4-6) that men “turn against” or “Apostatize” the same redemptive work of Christ at Calvary. A certain verse in the Hebrew Letter states it is impossible to renew them again to repentance…for they crucify the son of God afresh. Again the Bible states there is no possible means of repentance for Apostacy.

Jesus himself spoke of the unpardonable sin…which was blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. The Jewish nation had healings but when Jesus healed they accused Him of doing miracles by Beelzebub which pointed to demonic or Devil activity. This was Blasphemy to make such accusation or Devilish statement against the fact that Jesus was God and wrought miracles by the power of God Almighty.

The Roman Letter chapter 1 speaks of God “giving men up”…

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections… And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient…

On and on throughout the Bible Apostacy; the unpardonable sin; or the sin unto death is mentioned. This turning against God is not to be confused or mixed up with falling away or falling into sin. Big difference!

Jesus quoted and confirmed the truth of the Holy Scriptures

When Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John wrote the four Gospels...these writers recognized how Jesus quoted from the Holy Scriptures written in the Old Testament records. The Holy Scriptures were the collected oracles of God written by Prophets and given to Israel to foretell of the coming of the Messiah. God's Word was written in the Torah. God's Word was written by the Prophets. God's Word was written in the Psalms. Jesus knew and quoted the written word of God. Often Jesus would say...

It was written...
Have you not read?
What is said in your Law?
Go do as Moses commanded...
All things must be fulfilled that are written...
He opened up the Scriptures about Himself...
Jesus quoted Daniel the Prophet...
Jesus quoted Isaiah the Prophet...
Jesus quoted David the Prophet...

Jesus in His own words confirmed truth of the Old Testament records. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John individually recorded these accounts confirmed by Jesus. Scriptures confirm scriptures of the truth of the written Word of God that all point to Christ, the promised Messiah for the Jew first and also the Gentiles.

The Spirit of Holiness

The Bible teaches that God can quicken man with his Spirit. This power (from above) that "quickens" the human being and converts him into a child of God... is the same power that raised Jesus from the grave. This "quickening power" can also be termed as the Spirit of Holiness.

The truth and authenticity behind God's written Word

The authenticity of the Word of God can be disputed by the unlearned but not denied to be confirmed truth. History confirms such Biblical truth. Archeology confirms such Biblical truth. Geographics prove such Biblical truth. Even the preservation of God’s Word “since it was written” confirms such truth about the authenticity of the written word of God, for the redemption of earth and man.

Hundreds of prophecies about Jesus were recorded in the Torah (1st five books of the Old Testament considered to be the Law of Moses), and in the Prophets, and in the Psalms. These God sent and prophetic records were written for humanity, and confirmed, and fulfilled in the birth, life, ministry, death, resurrection, exaltation, and prediction of Christ and His glorious return in the future. These oracles… of God written in the Bible were (given to men and recorded by men) and contain the past tense prophetic truth about Christ that was foretold by Prophets of God; present tense prophetic truth about Christ that history confirms; and the future tense prophetic truth about Christ that will happen regardless if men believe in Christ or not.

This kind of Biblical truth occurred in the past and unlearned men couldn’t alter it. Biblical Truth continues to occur now and man can’t alter it, and Biblical Truth will continue to occur in the future without any alteration by man. Truth about Christ was recorded in God’s Word at the Fall of Adam. Truth about Christ was documented through the pages of history, and truth about Christ was/is preserved now in the Bible. This undeniable truth about Christ was foretold and recorded hundreds even thousands of years before Christ came down from Heaven. Atheists are foolish and stubborn about this kind of knowledge. Agnostics are unlearned and lack knowledge about Christ. Truth and knowledge about God’s Word and Christ the promised Messiah are able to make unlearned men, foolish men, and lost men… “wise unto Salvation”.
