Matt 5:13...Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing,
Actually, Israel lost their savor before Christ came and the reason for this was they deviated from the Torah which is the first five books of the Bible. Israel began deviating from the Torah during the Babylonian captivity in 606 BC. Israel deviated from the Torah when Rabbi's began interpreting the Torah and adding their own opinion to it. By adding human opinion and tradition to God's Word they made the Commandment of none effect...with the traditions of men.
Matt 15:3...But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
Matt 15:6...Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
The Talmudic teachings were not God inspired! Jews still follow these teachings today. The Talmudic teachings caused Israel to get away from the authority of the Torah. Israel faded away from their knowledge of sin, thus a backslidden state caused Israel to "not recognize the Messiah" when He came to establish His Kingdom on Earth. By getting away from the authority of Moses Law, Israel was simply recognized by Christ...as the "salt that lost its savor".
When Jesus ministered He ministered the Law of Moses and the true Torah, He said you have heard of old, but I say to you. What Israel had "heard of old" was mixed with alot of traditional teaching and not true Torah. Jesus reproved them when He taught the moral holiness of the Torah in His sermon on the mount. His exact words were, "You have heard of old...but I say unto you! Mat. 5:22, 28, 32, 34, 44. Jesus taught the moral holiness of the Law.
This shows how far Israel had gotten away from the true Torah. Jesus knew that the salt had lost it's savor!
The Church could never lose its savor or be trodden under the foot of men. If it did it would be "imperfect". Christ would never create an imperfect Church because He is perfect and the Church also is perfect! Israel was imperfect because they "rejected" Christ when He came. He offered the Kingdom, they rejected! Israel was imperfect because they deviated from the Torah and began living by Talmudic teaching and tradition. This deviation from God's Word caused Israel to miss Christ in the Scripture.
Israel has continued lose its savor all the way up to this present hour. Israel will not be the salt that keeps its savor until Christ comes back in Divine Judgement to establish His Kingdom on Earth. At that time "all of Israel will accept Him" in the Millennial Reign of Christ. Their hearts will cry, "Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord".
Matt 23:37-39...O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord
This will happen at the 1000 year reign of Christ! Glory!
